Soon the election will be over. No matter the outcome on November 2nd, the war on Iraq will continue. The anti-war movement will also continue. On Saturday, November 6th, we will join in solidarity with groups around the country in holding an action to oppose the war. Please join us. Emceed by Mike Wunsch and Rae Vogeler members of MAPC.
Musicians include Clare Norelle and drummer, plus others.
Speakers include:
- Shelly Grabe, Women for Peace. Shelly is a UW graduate student. She will speak on the situation of women in Iraq and the war at home, assault on domestic spending priorities.
- Joe Weinberg, Men Stopping Rape. Joe is an educator. He will speak on how we raise boys, and the ties to militarism and war.
- Alfred Meyer, Physicians for Social Responsibility. He will speak on “Smart Security. This is PSR's positive platform for addressing terrorism, nuclear threats, and our skewed budget, appealing to American values. You can read more about it at PSR's web site
- Lydia Barbash-Riley, Stop the War. She will speak about the group’s work organizing anti-war activity on UW-Madison campus.
- Will Williams, Veterans for Peace.
- Ben Ratliffe, ISO. Ben is also a member of Stop the War, and a veteran. Ben will speak on the situation in Fallujah, and the proposed elections in Iraq in January.
- Cindy Breunig, Interfaith Coalition for Worker Justice. She will speak about racism.
- Carl Williams and Jeremy ____. Carl is a member of Stop the War, the National Lawyer’s Guild, and has traveled to Occupied Palestine with the International Solidarity Movement. Jeremy is also knowledgable about the Palestine issue.
- Carol Weidel, US Labor against the War.
- Amy Mondloch, Four Lakes Green Party. She will speak about democratic reforms.
- Karima Berkani, She is a UW student and president of theArab Student Organization & member of Al-Awda.
- Fayyad Sbaihat, Al-Awda. He is a Palestinian from a village near the West Bank town of Jenin. He has been heavily involved with local activism on behalf of the rights of the Palestinian people. He has also been instrumental within the newly burgeoning Palestine Solidarity Movement divestment campaign. His talk will emphasize divestment as a strategy for attaining justice for the Palestinian people.
[Stop the War is sponsoring a sign-making session at 3pm Friday at the
Trophy Room in Memorial Union. All are welcome. Stop the War will begin
to assemble Saturday at 12:30pm.]
