Peace, Love & Spaghetti - a Fundraiser for MAPC

Celebrate 10 years of the Madison Area Peace Coalition with a gourmet spaghetti dinner (meat and no-meat options), side dishes and sweet potato pie. Prepared by Dot Williams. as a fundraiser for MAPC! 

Music by Yid Vicious, Clare Norelle, Brian Schwellinger (Quebecois fiddle), Chris Aaron of the Bandallamas, and the Raging Grannies.

Buy tickets in advance if you can at $10 for adults, $5 for children. Tickets are available now at Rainbow Books, Room of One's Own Bookstore, Mother Fool's Coffee House, Ground Zero Coffee, Lakeside Press, Regent St. Co-op, and Williamson St. Co-op (East and West). Tickets will be available at the door for $12 ($6 kids).

March to End the Wars!

Join us for a March and Rally to mark 10 years of U.S.-led war in Afghanistan and to call for an end to this war and all wars. Gather at Library Mall at 11:30am.  Come early if you need parking.March will begin after Noon. We will reach the top of State Street by quarter to 1:00 pm.    Bring your peace and labor signs, banners, and flair.  The Raging Grannies are coming!  Endorsed by AFSCME 171 and the South Central Federation of Labor.

Art Reception for Lester Dore Show

Art Show and Talk: Healing Trauma With Art, Wit, Words, and Wisdom

Local artist and author Bridget Birdsall will speak to the tremendous tenacity of the human spirit to endure and to our own individual innate capacity as human beings to transform the trauma in our lives—so we may be the peace we want to see in the world. Bridget will be reading from her book “Ordinary Angels” at 7pm with a discussion to follow. The show will run 9/1-9/18 and will feature a powerful piece honoring the individuals who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The event is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be available. A portion of all proceeds from Bridget’s book, Ordinary Angels, as well as the limited edition 9/11 Commemoration Posters will go to the Madison Area Peace Coalition.
