The Madison Area Peace Coalition is sponsoring an “Artists for Peace” exhibit, beginning on April 15th, and running every day through April 22nd. The exhibition will occur at the Electric Earth Café, 546 West Washington Ave, where bids may be placed daily. A reception and silent auction are scheduled for the Café on Friday, April 22nd — Earth Day — from 7 to 10 pm. The celebration will include live entertainment and refreshments, as well as conversation-time for artists, donors and bidders. Winning bidders not present at the auction will be notified by phone.

The exhibit will contain original and print artwork from American and international artists, including local photography, Palestinian embroidered wall hangings, Nicaraguan pottery, Colombian wind chimes, and various American art. Other art mediums will consist of oil paintings, ink drawings, woodcarvings, watercolors, acrylics, collages, woodblock prints, silk screens, wearable fiber art, purses, and handmade jewelry.

Local poet, Yogesh Chawla, will emcee the celebration, and Ben Manski of the Greens will give opening remarks about Earth Day and the need for peace. Entertainment will include acoustic guitar and songs by Shauna Wells. Shauna will be performing lounge jazz, originals and covers. Angela Smith will also perform original and folk music. In addition, a local rhythm and blues band will perform, as well as the Raging Grannies, a cappella singers of political satire. This will be a fun-filled evening, with proceeds benefiting the Madison Area Peace Coalition.
