Divest From the Israeli Occupation Meeting

Past - Saturday, September 08 2007 from 2 to 4 pm
Central Madison Public Library (downtown branch), 201 W. Mifflin St.
Divest From the Israeli Occupation Campaign; MAPC; AL-Awda
Barn: 442-8822, vivace@merr.com

Help plan outreach and action to build a campaign for targeted divestment from corporations that militarily aid the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, and open to all who are committed to this goal. This is a response to the Summer 2005 call by Palestinian civil society for people around the world to engage in boycott, sanction and divestment to end the Israeli occupation. This is more vital now than ever, given the brutal ethnic cleansing and apartheid-like treatment Palestinians are suffering every day in the occupied territories. We seek to build momenturm to end this using divestment as a tool, as in the case of the South African apartheid state.

POSTPONED: Register Your Support For Impeachment Resolution Before Madison Common Council

Past - Tuesday, August 07 2007 at 6:30 pm
City/County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., 2nd Floor Council Chambers
ImpeachWisconsin, MAPC, and many other groups
DBuzzdavis@aol.com; mrummel@sbcglobal.net

This event has been postponed till the September meeting of the Madison Common Council

Come and speak, or at least register your vote in support of a resolution before the Madison Common Council for a vote on Aug.7 (and before the Dane Co. Board on Aug. 16) to support Congress beginning an inquiry into possible grounds for impeachment of Goerge Bush and Dick Cheney. This is not a partisan issue. It is about affirming our responsibility as citizens to hold public officials accountable for blatant abrogation of the rule of law and high crimes that violate the Constitution, Bill of Rights and international treaties which are the highest law of the land. Our existence as a democratic republic is not assured but must be defended if it is to survive. You can come and register anytime after 6:30 pm. Failure to hold officials accountable increases the probability of a continued political culture of abuse, whoever is in the White House. Even if impeachment does not happen, it is our job to educate the public to the max about stopping this abuse of our democracy. Failure to act implicitly condones what has been going on.
